Type of Planes Grace Flight Uses

Grace Flight of America does not require that a passenger meet financial guidelines to qualify for a flight. We ask that our passengers have a compelling need before they ask for transportation, as each mission represents a significant cost to a volunteer pilot. Our pilots donate their time, aircraft, and all expenses involved to help people who otherwise would not be able to travel for medical treatment or for other compelling humanitarian reasons.

Grace Flight of America (GFA) arranges free flights for the following purposes:

●    Our primary mission is to fly people for scheduled medical treatment not available to them locally, such as chemotherapy or specialized surgery. Note: We do not provide Air Ambulance or emergency rescue services.

●    We also provide transportation for those facing a life-threatening illness and seeking a qualified second opinion from a regional specialty hospital or clinic.

●    Transportation for children and young adults to special needs camps is available. Certain restrictions apply.

●    For those waiting for an organ transplant, please call for details (case-by-case basis).

●    For families of wounded soldiers returning from active duty, we offer transportation to the soldier’s hospital.

●    GFA maintains a list of pilots willing to assist immediately to provide humanitarian aid in case of a national or local emergency such as hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

●    We will consider other compelling humanitarian needs for transportation on a case-by-case basis.

Requesting a Flight For the First Time

Do you meet our criteria?

●    Passengers must be ambulatory.  All passengers must be able to walk and get in and out of a plane with limited assistance

●    Passengers must be able to sit-up during the flight (seats do not recline).

●    GFA limits missions to 1,000 miles from origin city to destination city.

●    A qualified social worker or physician needs to fill out our paperwork. It is your responsibility to ensure we get the proper paperwork in a timely manner.

●    We need 5 working days for flights under 300 miles and 7 working days for more than 300 miles - We don’t start counting the working days until we get our paperwork back from the doctor’s office.

●    Passengers must not require any medical attention during the flight or any medical equipment (other than aluminum oxygen canister you can carry over your shoulder)

If, after reviewing our criteria, you feel you qualify for a Grace Flight, please call the office at 972-755-0433 or 888-500-0433 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time to further discuss your needs.

Follow-Up Request

If you've already taken your first Grace Flight, requesting another one is easy:

●    Contact the referring person or agency who filled out your original paperwork (doctor, social worker, pastor).  Ask them to fill out and fax the Follow-up Request Form to the GFA office, fax (972) 858-5492.

●    Once received, your paperwork will be reviewed, confirmed and then posted on our computer system.

●    Hospitals and doctors’ offices can be very busy. Please follow up to make sure your paperwork has been completed and transmitted to GFA. We cannot post your mission request to our volunteer pilots until we receive all of your completed paperwork.
